Summons for credit card debt??

I received a summons to appear in pre-trail court due to $5,000 of credit card debt. I own this debt. I have a large sum of credit card debt and am considering bankruptcy. How can I avoid a trail and possible judgment? I thought about offering the company $1,000 to settle debt.

Summons for credit card debt??

You can try to offer them anything to settle the debt but knowing these companies, they will not settle for less easily. If you are considering bankrupcy let them know that this is going to be the next step and maybe they will go for the grand.

Maybe you should have tried that six months ago.

If you don%26#039;t show up, they will put out a bench warrant for your arrest. You would need to call the credit card company ASAP and talk to them. Otherwise, you could show out and make an offer outside the courtroom and if they accept, they will drop the case.

Try to negotiate quickly with your offer. You MUST get it in writing. Make sure you give them a check or money order, do not give them access to you bank account. Make sure the offer to settle is in writing and states that they will accept that as payment in full. Do not file bankruptcy. At the very least, make a payment and show up in court. Tell the truth about your financial situation.

Do not just ignore it and do not just skip any court hearing. You probably had 20 days to reply, or you may have already been hit with a default judgment. I ignored one and now have a judgment on my credit report in addition to the collections.

If you get a court summons, go find an attorney. Now.

If there was a way to avoid the trial and judgment, everyone would do it!

If you are genuinely serious about paying off this debt, you should call the creditor and setup a payment plan on a stipulated judgment. What that means is that you would pay on a payment plan x amount of dollars every month to an agreed upon amount BUT if you defaulted then they would get a judgment against you. If they%26#039;re suing you for 5,000 they%26#039;re probably not going to take 20%.
