how long does it takes after you start paying off your cards to show on your credit report or to your score get better?

my score was great tyen went down because I have a lot of credit card debt, now I am paying them off. Always paid on time, never missed a payment.

It will take some time to get built up since just paying a credit card off is not going to make your score go up 100 points over night but every time you make a payment and pay down the balance to limit ratio or pay off the card completely it will start building right away. Making the minimum payments will keep your credit from going bad but even making minumum payments you really dont ever want your balance to exceed 30% of your credit limit or it will have a negative effect on your credit.

i just checked my report a few days ago and most of them were current, but there was one that was taking along time, it was like $400.00 behind what is current. that was like 6 mos. of payments, and i have already talked to them about it. as for the score, IDK.

Credit is fast to go down and slow to go up. If you were to pay off all your debt today it take a few months (2 months - 4 months) for the scores to reflect that.

If you have negative items (derogatory or collection items) on your report; those can take up to 2 years for your score to reflect.
